Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate are delighted to announce that they will be hosting their first cross triathlon event in February at their premises in Walker Bay, Hermanus.
Following on two successful sporting events held in 2015, the Adventure Weekend in association with TriSport and the Lagoon Swim in association with Big Bay Events, this fast cross triathlon promises to be an exceptional event.
This solo format event will take place on Saturday, 6 February 2016 and offers the most amazing scenery with the lagoon and the mountains as the awe-inspiring natural background. This will be a very fast triathlon with very little elevation. Participants can look forward to swimming in the salty water of the Bot River lagoon, cycling between the vineyards and running along the Estate’s single trail track.
Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate is a 200 hectare lifestyle farm and exclusive luxury estate which offers breathtaking views of the Bot River lagoon and Overberg mountains. Spectators can enjoy the event from the Benguela Cove Clubhouse on the day and watch as participants compete in this beautiful setting.
Wine by the glass of all Benguela Cove’s award-winning wines will be available at the Benguela Cove Clubhouse as well as beers and soft drinks. Participants and spectators can relax after the events by indulging in a delectable chocolate or cheese and wine pairing available all weekend at our tasting room or can book a table in the spectacular Benguela Manor Fine Dining Pop-up Restaurant.
Participants can choose to enter either the long or short triathlon. The long event includes a 950m swim in the salt-water lagoon followed by an 18km (two laps of 9kms) cycle that curls between the vineyards and ending off with a fast, non-technical single track 5.5km run. The short event follows the same format with reduced distances. The swim is 500m, cycle 9kms and run 2kms in the short triathlon event. Entry fee runs at R300 (long) and R150 (short) respectively.
Registration for both events is at 5:30am on the day. The short event starts at 7am and the long event at 9am. Enter online at http://trisport.co.za. For additional information please visit Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate’s website on www.benguelacove.co.za.
