Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate is excited to announce the release of its latest vintage Sauvignon Blanc. The Benguela Cove Sauvignon Blanc 2015 forms part of the estate’s new label collection which includes a premium gold foil embossed design that embodies the luxury and opulence of the estate from where it hails.
Bottles with the new labels have been introduced to the market gradually, as new vintages are released, and the full transition is expected to be completed by end-2016. This white wine boasts a white label with golden accents and forms part of the collection of new vintage wines that were released over the past six months.
Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate is a 200-hectare lifestyle farm and exclusive luxury estate situated in Walker Bay, Hermanus. Overlooking the Bot River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean; the favourable maritime conditions ensures that this unique terroir produces outstanding quality grapes.
Benguela Cove’s close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean results in a cooler median daytime temperature and in cool maritime winds that caress the vineyards at night. This favourable climate, use of covered crops and the direction in which the vines face aid in the slow ripening of these grapes.
Sauvignon Blanc is often seen as a summer wine but the Benguela Cove Sauvignon Blanc 2015 is a wine that can be enjoyed year round. The crisp acidity cuts through tomato-based wintry stews, curries and chillis with ease to highlight flavours in both the dish and wine.
Benguela Cove’s Somerset West-based restaurant, Benguela on Main has paired the Benguela Cove Sauvignon Blanc 2015 with the exciting new Nectarine & ‘Buffalo’ dish on Executive Chef Jean Delport’s Tasting Menu. This dish comprises red pepper, tomato and bitter leaf.
The Benguela Cove Sauvignon Blanc 2015 is the happy outcome of its unique terroir and inspired winemaking, displaying typical characteristic of a cool climate coastal Sauvignon Blanc. Elegant and racy it follows in the quality footsteps of its award-winning predecessors. Enjoy its fruity tropical pineapple and kiwi flavours, complemented by subtle citrus notes and an integrated minerality. This wine is made to be savoured and enjoyed now, but it will reward careful cellaring for years to come. Available at R95 per bottle.
This new wine, as well as the other recent new releases, are available on the Benguela Cove online shop. Visit shop.benguelacove.co.za to get your hands on a bottle or six.
