The residential plan on Benguela Cove has been designed to capture the essence of its rural nature and breathtaking views, by combining both built and natural fabric the development epitomizes a perfect balance between lavish estate living and unspoiled nature.
Benguela Cove has strict aesthetic and architectural controls with a committee who review all plans for approval. Each plot has the position, coverage and height of the building controlled along with the use of materials. No face brick is allowed, all structures are plastered and then painted using a palette of pastel colours. A distinct architectural feature is the grey stone, excavated from a local quarry, which forms part of the signature of the estate. This can be seen when driving through the main gates and thereafter it is only roof coverings, natural slate or profile steel.
You can be confident that when you invest in Benguela Cove that the person who buys and builds next door to you cannot, and will not be able to, destroy your investment by using garish colours or architecture.

The estate is the epitome of luxury and homeowners enjoy a outdoor and watersport lifestyle. Benguela Cove Lagoon, is close to all major amenities such as private schools, private hospitals and shopping.
Benguela Cove is a leading producer and wine destination, at the start of South Africa’s Hermanus Wine Route. Discover and enjoy the finest award-winning wines from our quality vineyards.
Benguela Cove’s vineyards benefit from the unique conditions of the estate’s location at the ocean’s edge, on the southern coast of South Africa. The south-easterly sea breeze is chilled by the Benguela Current flowing up from Antarctica, to cool the grapes at night after the warm summer days, irrigated by above-average rainfall, for perfect viniculture.
The vineyards are planted on the exposed cooler slopes of the estate and on top where there is wind. Our vineyards protect the housing development, while vineyards planted along the main road hides the residential development ensuring complete privacy.
The proximity of our vineyards to the sea and the unique slightly windy conditions shorten the shoots of the vines and make the berries and leaves smaller, thereby increasing the quality of the grapes produced. Our terroir is clay and calcium rich and there are very few farms like this in South Africa.
It is the epitome of luxury living and this fully functional wine farm has already produced multiple award-winning wines. Residents on the estate get an allocation of wine every year and at full production this will work out to be a case of wine per month (a very nice perk to have). This leads to residents having a sense of ownership without being liable or responsible for the farm. This is their wine farm in the Cape.

“Our brief is quite simple; to combine the best efforts of earth and man to produce beautiful wines.”
Johann Fourie is our head winemaker and is one of the foremost experts on winemaking and viticulture in South Africa.
His passion for wine includes all aspects of the industry – from selecting vineyards for our brands, to growing grapes; and from the technology of winemaking to judging on wine competition panels. His experiences include time spent in all the French and other European wine regions, as well in Canada, the United States and Australia. Johann is also the 2015 Diners Club Winemaker of the Year.
Johann’s philosophy is “To bridge the gap between the science and the artistry of making wine: that’s why I enjoy spending time with consumers, not just to share our story and passion for what we do, but also to get a deeper insight into their interest in wine, and to reflect that in every bottle we produce”.
We’re inviting you to celebrate the New Year in style at Benguela Cove!
